Recently I have been asked about how to stop the Polycom CX700 from automatically locking after the default 10 minute period of inactivity. This is particularly important where the phone is in a shared area and therefore you do not want the people to have to key in the pin code before being able to dial.
Fortunately this is easy to do. On the Pool Front End properties go to the Voice tab. Here you can untick the Enforce phone lock or alternatively change the timeout period and PIN length (note that the shortest pin allowed is 4 digits).
The only caveat with this change is that it is now no longer possible to even lock the phone manual either from the phone or if you have the USB connection then locking your PC will no longer lock the phone. If you need to secure your phone when you are away you will now need to sign out of the CX700.

Applications integrated with OCS to leverage the power of presence is really good news for everyone. Customers using Dynamics GP 2010 can see the presence of contacts within the product. Obviously it requires Federation to enable cross business presence but this is a great driver to bring even more emphasis on B2B unified communications.
Below is screen shot from the Microsoft Dynamics GP Product blog which also discusses the features in a little more detail. http://blogs.msdn.com/gp/archive/2010/03/30/feature-of-the-day-unified-communications.aspx

Microsoft had scheduled support for OCS on Windows 2008R2 in 1Q2010. On the last day of the quarter we finally have confirmation of support.
There are a few still a few issues, Group Chat support being the main one.
Support is also only for new installations of Windows 2008 R2 you cannot upgrade an existing OCS 2007R2 system.
Two knowledge base articles have been released
When you upgrade a domain controller to Windows 2008 R2 x64 OCS does not function correctly. To fix this you need to rerun the ForestPrep. Full details are in this knowledge base article 982020
For full details and the process required to install and prepare Windows 2008R2 for OCS look at the knowledge base article 982021

Microsot have recently released a Workload Architecture poster showing protocol flow, ports, DNS and Certificates. It gives a graphical representation of information found in the various OCS manuals all in one place.
This poster only shows the IM & Presence, Conferencing, Application Sharing and Enterprise Voice Worloads. However it does show everything for internal and also external access through an Edge Server.
